The New York Knicks boast a glorious over 70-year history that began in 1946 when they were one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America (BAA). After the 1949 merger with the NBL, decades of struggle ensued before the Knicks emerged as a dynasty in the 1970s. An absolute highlight were the two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973. Led by center Willis Reed, shooting guard Walt "Clyde" Frazier and the "World's Most Famous Defense", the Knicks cemented their status as the team of the 70s. Unforgettable were Reed's comeback in Game 7 of the 1970 Finals and Frazier's 36 points and 19 assists in the decisive 1973 championship game. 1994 marked the next milestone as the Knicks, led by Patrick Ewing, John Starks and coach Pat Riley, stormed to the NBA Finals.
